Costa Rica Extreme Canyoneering

Your day begins with an authentic Costa Rican breakfast before heading into the mountains in a rugged 4×4 safari vehicle, climbing more than 1,000 feet to a private rainforest reserve. Along the way, your bilingual guide points out local wildlife, tropical plants, and panoramic views of the Pacific coastline. At the summit, you’ll gear up with the latest safety equipment and receive hands-on instruction from certified guides before the real adventure begins.

Both the basic and extreme canyoning tours start with two thrilling ziplines over the river, followed by a short “dry rappel” training session. Then, you’ll hike downriver where optional swimming and cliff jumping (from 4 to 25 feet) set the stage for the highlight: rappelling down four jungle waterfalls—on your own, with expert backup support from guides. By the end, you’ll have officially earned the title of “canyoneer.”

For those who want to push their limits, upgrade to the Extreme Canyoneering Tour. After completing the standard course, you’ll venture deeper into the canyon for the longest unassisted rappel in Costa Rica—a breathtaking 150-foot waterfall descent into a natural pool. Cool off with a swim in the jungle lagoon, then tackle a challenging hike back to base, adrenaline still pumping.

With professional guides, top-quality equipment, and a mix of heart-pounding thrills and jaw-dropping scenery, this tour is a bucket-list experience in Costa Rica. Whether you choose the basic or extreme version, canyoneering in Jaco is an adventure you’ll never forget.
